A home set on the Mornington Peninsula, a rugged coastal environment between Port Phillip Bay and the Bass Strait.
An elemental curation of material mass, layering and landscape forms the home, rationalized by long sightlines and borrowed views. The architecture engages with its surroundings through a sequence of spaces that vary in porosity. Recessive to the street, the project gives back to its landscape through considered re-vegetation. Across the extent of the site the building is stitched into its context, presenting an architectural fabric that interchanges the interior, garden, and courtyard.
Extending outwards, spaces within the home connect visually and physically through a combination of fixed and operable panels. Coastal flora is invited in, further layering the material compositions of the interior, and slowly subsuming the architecture whilst contributing to seclusion and privacy.
