The concept focuses on a sculptural form which is recessive on arrival and layered within the landscape context. The project is elemental in it’s conception of space and arrangement. Elliptical forms are placed between floor and roof plates defining positive private/service space, whilst creating negative space for circulation, lines of sight and living zones. The proposal is vertically stacked with the lower ground floor cut into the site on the ocean side, creating an opportunity of spaces (eg: Guest Rooms, Gym, Meditation Spaces, Cellar, etc) with ocean views, whilst leaving the upper level for public living and the primary suite. Circulation is resolved by a large open spiral stair and lift (if required). Car parking is managed by a 6 car garage. As a structure, the form is nested into the landscape, with planting incorporated into the building fabric. This can be seen by the green roof, terrace planters and winter courtyard garden (creating shelter from the cold winter winds). Rammed Earth, Concrete, Raw Timber and Glass will offer a sense of permanence within this exposed site. A building which focusses to create a sense of stillness, with the grasses and ocean moving in the wind beyond.
