NGV Pavilion, 2019 – Competition Entry

Melbourne Victoria, Australia

Sitting lightly in its surrounds, the proposal provides opportunities to explore and observe the existing, through considered vistas. Containing users within moments where evocative sculpture, play elements, shade trees and manicured gardens are brought to the forefront or located enticingly beyond it ’s extents.

A series of framed partitions reflect, refract and distort the environment. The space seeks not only to encapsulate and reveal moments, but through layering, refraction, transparency and light, to manipulate and re – configure perception.

Experientially the space is in constant flux, shifting with weather, time, occupation and use. A work of art in progress, visitors are engaged to respond and re -interpret the design as it plays with it ’s surround and the elemental forces it is faced with each day.
