Fitzroy House, 2019

Fitzroy Victoria, Australia

Situated in the dense inner-city suburb of Fitzroy, the house explores small-space living within the challenging context of over-shadowing neighbours. Through the manipulation and interplay of light, scale and materiality, the converted the two-story heritage workers cottage provides a young family with moments of exaggerated natural light and scale, contrasting against highly detailed intimate spaces that explore new ways of living. The resulting modest footprint does not compromise on experience and amenity and affords a somewhat rare, generous back garden for outdoor living and play.
