Nepean House, In Construction

Blairgowrie Victoria, Australia

Located on Point Nepean Road in Blairgowrie. Nepean Beach House sits privately within the dune landscape, focusing on retreat, simple massing and spatial experience.

Whilst the project sits adjacent to Port Philip Bay, the site is limited with no ocean views. Our approach was to accept this site condition and focus on creating a retreat that sits within a landscape, creating an internal garden the reads as an extension of the surrounding native flora.

The project focuses on a minimal palette of Rammed Earth walls, which slice and frame the protected garden and gallery spaces. In contrast, timber battens act as the softening element, creating screening, shadow and a porous opposition to the mass and solidity of the Rammed Earth.
