EASTOP ARCHITECTS learns and works on the land of the Wurundjeri People.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians as the first place makers on this land.
We pay our respect to their care and knowledge of this special country and culture.
EASTOP ARCHITECTS IS AN ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIORS STUDIO BASED IN MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA. UNDERPINNING THE STUDIO’S WORK, IS A FOCUS ON THE PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE OF ARCHITECTURE. SPATIAL EXPERIENCES ARE CONSTRUCTED THROUGH CLEAR COMPOSITIONAL FORM, THE LAYERING OF LIGHT, TEXTURE AND MASS, AND A VISIBLE DIALOGUE BETWEEN INTERIOR AND LANDSCAPE. MATERIAL PALETTES ARE CONSIDERED AND RESTRAINED, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON MATERIALS THAT EMBODY A SENSE OF INTEGRITY AND PERMANENCE.
“Eastop architects is a practice that has developed a strong design direction in a relatively short period. Its portfolio displays predominantly residential projects that are well resolved and highly sophisticated, displaying an impressive facility for both architecture and interiors. Each project also offers a glimpse into the studio’s meticulous design approach.”
Australian Interior Design Awards, Jury Citation
We design projects, spaces, and objects using a cohesive language that transcends traditional bricks and mortar. Our portfolio includes architecture & interiors, custom furniture, lighting, and landscapes, which has deepened our understanding of scale, materials, fabrication, and construction. This process has fostered our confidence in designing without the constraints of scale.
“Deft use of transparency, reflectivity and shifting natural light has resulted in sensorial spaces with bold tonality and varying moods. This is a carefully executed project that captures and enhances the spirit of the old and new.”
Elm Tree Place, Victorian Architecture Awards Jury Citation
We are a pencil and pen design practice, with a confidence and skillset in complex parametric, cad and BIM design. Utilising the latest technology and software, we incorporate virtual reality for design reviews, advanced BIM management, and 3D printing to enhance design outcomes, improving practice efficiency, and foster innovation.
Our approach focuses on designing for construction rather than mere intent. Within the studio, we have developed prototypes for our projects, leveraging our 3D printer for components and our collaborative skills in hands-on design thinking.
As a studio, we are committed to learning and the advancement of our profession. We actively support ongoing professional development, material research, academia, and the Australian Institute of Architects.
