Portsea House, 2022

Portsea Victoria, Australia

Portsea House is located towards the back beach in Portsea and aims to read as a monumental architectural form nested within the often rough landscape of the Mornington Peninsulas dune environment.

The complex site and requirements for a tennis court has resulted in the architecture becoming interlinked and stretched across the site. This approach results in the house and garden becoming one, with a series of designed sequences creating a heightened sense of mood, new views, and drama.

Similar to Wildcoast the facade is robust and reflects the harsh character of the surrounding landscape, with concrete allowing weather protection and glass being recessive. Glass sliding walls retract into wall cavities allowing the architecture to appear as an eroded coastal rock sheltering its guests.
